The Hottest Day

I began the day with good intentions with a walk along the cliff followed by a juice of beetroot,  grapefruit,  apple and carrot.  Then painting. My long ago ex boyfriend came with his lovely family.  When you haven’t seen someone for years and it is as though no time has passed and the shared laughter and humour comes back effortlessly.  We had a picnic in the garden and walked to the beach. The air was heavy and still with heat and no movement.  We felt that perhaps the beach wasn’t such a good idea in intense heat especially with no shade, no breeze and the tide was out as far as could be and the walk to the water was at least five minutes,  while trying not to slip or sink in the mud and rock pools.  The water was a warm bath, but still invigorating enough compared to the extreme temperature, which was 34 degrees or something.  I floated on the gentle waves, crucifix-shaped,  face up to the blue sky.

Latest commission for a client in Austria of a paradise garden with cat. She loves cats.
