Artist’s Statement

My work is primarily concerned with nostalgia and sentimental journeying. I am interested in the surreal and dream-like, and how a single perceptual shift can alter everything. As a painter I can create worlds and become a dream weaver, creating a visual parallel universe. I am about evoking the unusual, the otherworldly, the serene, the mystical, the sensual, the self indulgent, the stuff of magic and bliss. It is my intention to create a feeling of peace when the viewer beholds my work. As Matisse said, “I want to feel peace, so that is what I paint.” Angst is not in my painterly vocabulary and I love ornament, decoration, colour, sensuality, even glitter and sequins, used sometimes with a tongue-in-cheek nod to feminism, by using the childlike materials of early creativity for girls.

All my work is available as archival giclee prints in any size. Just contact me.
